Wadeeah Jabbar, born in Columbus, Ohio, is a 16 year old Senior at Eastmoor Academy. She started taking dance classes at the age of six and has experience in ballet, West African, and Hip Hop Dance. She currently studies hip-hop dance with BHB and performs with the TRANSIT ARTS Performance Group and was recently hired as an Apprentice Artist with TRANSIT ARTS. She is also a writer and has studied with Barbara Fant and Wyk McGowan. She intends to be a touring performing artist and motivational speaker (combining dance, writing and public speaking) and is also interested in coaching individuals to help them achieve their full potential. She has performed with the TRANSIT ARTS Performance Group at numerous venues including: Independents’ Festival, The Community Shelter Board Annual Meeting, the Martin Luther King Complex, the Harvest Festival, The Columbus arts festival, Grange insurance, Comfest, COSI, First Night Columbus, the Ohio Statehouse, and the Hip Hop Expo. Her “moment in time” – the Talent Show at Eastmoor Middle School inspired her to begin dancing again when she heard the Hip Hop music. This was her first experience with Hip Hop Dance and she has continued ever since. Wadeeah is known to be outspoken and passionate about what she believes in. She has been told on numerous occasions that she is a kind and inspiring mentor.
