Katerina (Kat) Harris, 19 years old, was born in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center in 2011 and currently studies at Columbus State Community College. While in High School her major studies included: two years of Choir and Acting, three years of Journalism (including Yearbook, Writing Seminar/Literary Magazine), and four years of Italian language. Some highlights included the opportunity to sing with HaZamir from Israel and at the MLK Birthday Celebration at the King Arts Complex, and at the Department of Education. Kat is very proud of overcoming youth depression which she credits to her involvement in the TRANSIT ARTS programs, especially the DJ and Breakdance classes with BHB. She began dancing at the age of 6 and studied first with Beverly Whiteside in Elementary School, Karen King-Cavin in Middle School, and BHB from High School until the present. Something that people may not know about her is that she was a child model/actor in TV commercials and print ads for Longenberger, Kings Island, Donatos, and Schottensteins. She traveled to Las Vegas and Montreal as a pageant contestant during her early elementary school years. She also studied steel drums with Jeff Jones and has studied visual arts with Richard Duarte Brown at TRANSIT ARTS for the past four years. She has volunteered for numerous programs over the years including: FLIP THE SCRIPT REBEL, A Kid Again, COSI, Martin Luther King Library, BalletMet, Central Community House, the Asian Festival and TRANSIT ARTS and she has been running in Race for the Cure since 2009. She recently received the 2011 Village Maker Award from Central Community House for her service to the community.
